After reading the beautifully written and illustrated book "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn" by Kenard Pak, there will be a scavenger hunt around the garden and kids will use nature-inspired materials to create their own artwork.

Get moving on the Lakefront Trail and join us for a community celebration of our parks! In partnership with Banner Wholesale Grocers, the Chicago Parks Foundation is thrilled to bring our 5K event back for our fourth year at beautiful Burnham Park.
Start the morning with either the timed out-and-back 5K course on the path or a guided 1-Mile Burnham Wildlife Corridor Nature Walk. Children 10 and under can be part of the Kids Dash. Then enjoy our post-race pancake party with food, drinks, and community fun - all right in the park!
All event registrations include a commemorative shirt and post-race party food/beverage ticket. Family-friendly. All ages and abilities welcome

Established as a 501(c)(3) and operating for public benefit, improved conditions, and promotion of nature spaces and recreational activities, the Winnemac Park Advisory Council was reactivated in the spring of 2023. A new board has been elected, and by-laws have been established.
During Q1 of 2025 board elections have occurred and a new leadership team has formed.

We are volunteers dedicated to building community and making Winnemac Park a wonderful place to be.
WPAC has identified the following priorities
• The pressing need for easily-accessible bathroom facilities for all park patrons in order to maintain adequate levels of sanitation throughout the park
• A desire to maintain and protect the park
